Welcoming Fall ~ Tips For Selling Your Morris Plains Home

Although summer is the most popular season for selling real estate, many people are still looking to buy a home in the fall. Selling a home during the fall certainly comes with one advantage: The season's beautiful foliage.

As you may know, we have shifted from a sellers market to a moderate or buyers market, meaning if you're selling, you'll want to do everything you can to make your house look its best.

If your home is still on the market or you are listing it as the leaves start to turn and fall, here are some ways to keep your property value high and get your home shown:
Get Ready to Rake. Fall is both famous and infamous for its falling leaves in the northeast (and in Morris Plains). While they certainly look pretty when they’re are on the trees, those same leaves can be a nightmare for your home’s curb appeal once they’ve hit the ground. You don’t need to rake the lawn every day, but you should definitely make sure all of your leaves are on the curb before any open house or showing

Break out the Decorations. Fall is a festive time of year, so it won’t hurt to spruce your home up a little. Without breaking the bank, get a few fall-colored decorations, just by adding a seasonal wreath and new doormat can raise the property value for any home on the market. Inside, get you're table ready for Thanksgiving! Make your potential home buyer excited to host their first family meal!

Lighting ~ Let it Shine. As the days get shorter, you may end up showing your home in the dark. Make sure ALL your outdoor and indoor lights are clean and working -- if they're dirty or broken, buyers will get a bad feeling before they even come inside and you’ll want to show any potential buyer how well-lit and cozy your home is.

The Talk of The Town. Get your buyers 'in the know' on the Talk Of The Town - during the fall there are so many festive things to do here locally around Morris Plains. Leave some flyers out on what's happening and coming up ie.. apple picking, pumpkin farms. (also follow our facebook page for all events and happenings for Morris Plains residents)

So,if you’re selling real estate this fall, remember that 'homey" and “warm and cozy” should be the first two words that come to any buyer’s mind when walking through your house. If you keep the oven baking with yummy treats (aka apple pie & cookies), turn lights on and keep the fire roaring, you’ll find yourself closing a sale in no time this fall.
